Dear Lisa:

Pursuant to our phone conversation I have spoken to couple of the MS group leaders plus other people with disabilities and they are going to send me pictures on the Walgreen’s that are not handicap accessible.

I will be sending you pictures of the Walgreen’s store on Irving Park Rd., Itasca, IL. This store was built in 95. It has same problems that the rest of stores. The accessibility is not there.

This means the plans that have been drawn up by the architect for Walgreen’s and the different boards of the Suburbs are complying with the accessibility law but not enforcing the ADA law for people that have to use equipment to get around everyday. Are these people so stupid when they okay these plans? Accessibility is to be directly to the door without obstructions to the side of the building.

Discrimination against people that have to use a wheel chair, walker, or a cane is criminal. Where did the law that was put in effect l0 years ago fall apart so badly for us so we can try to live somewhat of a normal life?

The fault lies with elected officials from the very beginning not making sure that there is a board of disabled persons to okay the plans that are drawn up. The other problem is the first fine should be substantial then a daily fine until it is corrected against the architect, the corporation or owner and the suburb.

We want to be involved in the corrections of Walgreen’s and also know what their fines are going to be.

Please let me know what is being done with the complaint I put in against Charter One Bank on Irving Park Rd.

I had made the suggestion of no raised sidewalks to building entrances. The access walk to the entrance does not have to have an incline from the drive to the walk to the entrance. The Supermarkets don’t have them, some of the large malls don’t have them so what is the problem?

I will be sending you pictures of Walgreen’s, Charter One Bank and also the US Post Office with corrections. Their is sure a lot of discrimination against people with handicaps and the accessibility law being broken constantly. The Constitution reads “We the people of these United States” well I have added another sentence to the Constitution to read, “We the people with disabilities of these United States also have rights to live a full an normal life.”

Cordially yours,
