President George W. Bush
White House
1600 Pennsylvania Ave, N.W.
Washington, DC 25000

Dear President Bush:

On July 26, 1990, your Dad signed into law the American Disabilities Act.

The American Disabilities Act was to bring persons with disabilities into the mainstream of life. Persons with disabilities young and old are still having SERIOUS PROBLEMS. The problem IS the individual States mainstream interpretation of the American Disability Act still causes us DISCRIMINATION.

The cities and suburbs mainstream interpretation of the Law varies from State to State. Now you have a complete breakdown of the law. Sixteen years later we are still having BIG PROBLEMS. The main one is ACCESSIBILITY.

WHY?????? The WHY is WASHINGTON. Washington drew up the American Disability Act with loop holes. These loop holes in the American Disability Act are still causing us DISCRIMINATION. DISCRIMINATION telling us we are not part of the US Constitution. The reason the Civil War was FOUGHT. The Declaration of Independence was WRITTEN. The Statue of Liberty sent. Martin Luther King was ASSINATED. WE ARE STILL STRUGGLING.

The American Disability Act was written forcibly because Washington and persons of the US forgot what this country was founded on. The American Disabilities Act was written because of demonstrations. Not that persons with disabilities were even thought about.

Why, President Bush, are we still fighting? Why did you form the Government Access Board in your first term of office? You did the same thing as your father. You formed this board and they worked very hard and still working hard to make things right for us. We will make you a BET. You and everyone elected to office in Washington don't have any idea what the RECOMMENDATIONS are to make our lives better. It is Your FAULT that you did not make it known to the Congress and Senate that everyone must tell their individual state that these recommendations have to be put into Law. As recommended.

Enclosed you will find a letter to Illnois Attorney General Lisa Madigan. We are complaining to her that her office has the audacity to know the recommendations but are not going to do anything about them. The UNIFIED VOICE OF DISABLED AMERICANS was told maybe years down the line something will be done. We were told by the Illnois Attorney Generals Office they don't have to do anything with these recommendations because Washington did not make these recommendations as part of the American Disability Act.

President Bush, why is it, you have plenty of time to tell AFGANISTAN that everyone in their country has the right to freedom. The government they form must have laws for the freedom of rights for the citizens of their country. Our military personnel will remain their until this is accomplished. Our military personnel will remain in their country and sacrifice their lives for their freedom. Our troops will sacrifice their lives even though they become DISABLED. BEING DISABLED means their country will not forget them. Being DISABLED means their country is going to make sure they can resume their lives even though they have to use a cane to walk or see, walker, wheel chair or power chair. What they and their families don't realize is their country don't care. This starts with Washington , to the states on down.

President Bush, you will find enclosed letters written to the administration of Alexian Brothers Hospital. Please note the date on these letters. The way the American Disability Act is written and the proposed new recommendations are presented, no one is going to enforce them. Why should they? Complete accessibility is not clearly defined. So DISCRIMINATION continues sixteen years later.

Never from Alexian Brothers Hospital.

President Bush, what is it going to take for you as President of the UNITED STATES, to come out verbally and tell everyone that persons with disabilities are not going to be DISCRIMINATED against ANY MORE. And that the American Disability Act your father signed July 26, 1990 and the Access Board you formed, recommendations are going to be enforced. All commercial, state, federal and medical facilities are to have POWER DOORS. This includes schools private and public.

President Bush if you can declare war and Congress and the Senate has to agree. It is time you, as President of the United States, declare war for the fifty-four million persons with disabilities. You were voted President for everyone in the United States. You are the Commander in Chief for all your citizens. It is time you DID your JOB for every person including the 54 million persons with disabilities.

There is to be NO GRANDFATHER CLAUSE for anything or anyone. NO ONE IS EXEMPT.

Unified Voice of Disabled Americans will be waiting to hear from you, President Bush. We do not expect to hear from your office that you are to busy. We expect who opens this letter to make sure you receive it. Sixteen years of DISCRIMINATION is long enough.

We are serious we want our rights put into the mainstream.

Please check our website. http://bonewits.net/UVDA-0.htm
All letters written so far are under POWER DOORS.

Sincerely,

Unified Voice of Disabled Americans
