Mr. J. Peter Nielsen
President
Little Company of Mary Hospital
2800 W. 95th St.
Evergreen Park, IL. 60805

Dear Mr. Nielson:

The Unified Voice for Disabled Americans has been dealing with Thomas Knox for the past few months regarding the handicap parking spots.

Our Linda Stearns attended the last council meeting at the village hall of Evergreen Park regarding the proposal for a garage to help with the handicap-parking problem. At this meeting she told the board that all the handicap parking spaces were illegal. They were not sixteen feet wide. All handicap parking spaces are to be eight on the left for car or van. Eight on the right stripped. She also told them for months we have been trying to get you to correct the problem. An article appeared in the Repartio Newspaper regarding the Little Company of Mary Hospital handicap parking for persons with disabilities.

Mr. Nielsen, the Little Company of Mary Hospital is not only breaking the American Disability Act Accessibility for disabled persons but the Civil Right Act. Mr. Knox had told us both verbally and by letter he was going to fix the handicap parking spaces to sixteen feet and add more spaces since we found you had four lots. These spaces, per law, are to be near the main entrance and the emergency entrance. Since you are a hospital you can not go by the specified of handicap parking spaces as originally specified in the ADA Law. Linda Stearns checked out your lots after June 30th and nothing had been corrected per agreement with Mr. Knox. Please do not use the valet parking as your excuse for not having the correct handicap spaces. You do not have valet parking seven days a week.

The Unified Voice for Disabled Americans wants a meeting with you and Linda Stearns to resolve this problem once and for all. We are sending the City of Evergreen Park a copy of the letter and are holding them as responsible as you for the problems you are causing persons with disabilities that have to use you hospital and the facilities. Your time has run out to get this problem corrected. We will do whatever we have to do to correct the law you have broken against us.

We expect you and the City of Evergreen Park to contact Linda Stearns at 708 423 6556 within two weeks from date of this letter.
