Dear Ms. Nesbsky:

Enclosed you will find a copy of the letter that I wrote to the Division President of Charter One Bank.

I do not have any complaint forms so please use this letter as my complaint.

I will never understand why the disabled have to fight for the ADA law to be inforced. These laws have been in effect for 10 yr. and were still struggling as if the law does not exist.

The reason why this law is being broken is one simple factor, MONEY. If all the companies or corporations were fined to a point it would hurt then in addition to getting the problem fixed. The fine should be $10,000.00 for the first offense and $5,000.00 for each additional offense. The companies or corporations have more than one place of business they will make sure each one of the properties meet the accessibility law.

You are presently working on a complaint I have against Walgreen’s in Itasca on Irving Park Rd. This past week I have found out Walgreen’s in Orland Park had the same problem and had to get it fixed. This was a BRAND NEW STORE. Something is wrong here. The architect, the village inspector did not notice it and you did not get involved until a complaint was made. Did you fine them or just tell them to fix it.

I maybe wrong here and I stand corrected if you can prove to me they were all fined a put on notice for any more complaints against the village, builder and corporation. If the Disability Bureau of the state does not hurt them with hefty fines this will continue.

Elections will be coming up soon and if our elected officials or persons running for office don’t start addressing the ADA Law and what they are going to do to see that it is enforced they may find the office they are running for may not be in their reach.

Disability is hard enough to live with everyday without worrying about accessibility,

Cordially,
