Passenger Vessel Access - ADA - Access Board Comment Period Extended to July 28, 2005

To Whom It Concerns:

Back-Ground.  On November 26, 2004, the Access Board published two notices in the Federal Register requesting comment on material which concerned access to and in passenger vessels subject to the Americans with Disabilities Act (http://www.access-board.gov/news/pvag.htm   ).  [Note: Currently the Access Board is having problems with its web site.]

Extension.  In a Federal Register notice, dated March 22, 2005, the Access Board extended the comment period related to the above material to July 28, 2005 (see http://www.access-board.gov/pvaac/anprm-ext.htm).

DOT Notice. On the same day in November when the Access Board published its two notices, the Department of Transportation also published an Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM) concerning passenger vessel access.  The above Access Board extension does not apply to DOT's ANPRM.  However, we have been informally told that DOT also plans to extend their comment period to July 28, 2005.  When DOT takes formal action, DOT will publish a notice in the Federal Register.

Questions. Should you have any questions regarding the Access Board extension of the comment period to July 28, 2005, please do not hesitate to call.
