INDEPENDENT TRIP PLANNING SERVICES GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS
ACCESSIBILITY: To provide our guests with a "hands-on" Alaskan getaway, AWY researched for accessibility and usability, using AWY's copyrighted "Accessible/Usable Survey Form" and doing on-site inspections. NOTE: In Alaska, few of the public accommodations, public rest rooms, dining establishments, etc., meet the Americans with Disability Act [ADA] standards in Alaska. AWY has rated the businesses in its Getaways as accessible and/or usable as a result of our research. This means that doorways in hotels and rest rooms are sufficient to accommodate an average-sized wheelchair, and that mobility impaired travelers should be able to negotiate their wheelchair or scooter in specially selected hotels, hotel rooms, inns, lodges, and bed & breakfasts. There are no special adaptations or aids provided in any accommodations or rest rooms. Hearing impaired travelers are advised if strobe lights, close-captioned TV, shaker kits, and TTYs are available. Visually impaired travelers are advised if bell alarms and Braille are available.
LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY: While certain programs require little physical effort, others can be more demanding. Alaska travel can be more rigorous and more difficult than traveling in other locations. It is essential that persons accompanying travelers with disabilities be fully confident that they can cope with all aspects of their responsibilities for the duration of the Getaway. Alaska Welcomes You!, Inc. [AWY] will accept disabled travelers on their own only if they are self-sufficient in every way. Each Getaway has been carefully researched and is specially designed for travelers with disabilities.
